ANALISIS NOVEL PRIDE AND PREJUDICE BY Jane Austen

1.      Analyze that story based on instrinstic elements:
*      Setting :
Setting place: in the house, in the assembly room, in the Church.
Setting time: in the morning, in the evening, and in the night.

*      Characterization:
1.      Elizabeth Bennet :  Protagonist. The second daughter of Mr. Bennet, Elizabeth is the most intelligent and sensible of the five Bennet sisters. She is lovely, clever, and, in a novel defined by dialogue, she converses as brilliantly as anyone.
2.      Fitzwilliam Darcy :  A wealthy gentleman, the master of Pemberley, and the nephew of Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Darcy is intelligent and honest, his excess of pride causes him to look down on his social inferiors. He loves Elizabeth for her strong character.
3.      Jane Bennet :  Elizabeth’s beautiful elder sister and Darcy’s wealthy best friend, Jane and Bingley engage in a courtship that occupies a central place in the novel.
4.      Charles Bingley :  Darcy’s considerably wealthy best friend. He is a genial, well:intentioned gentleman, whose easygoing nature contrasts with Darcy’s initially discourteous demeanor.
5.      Mr. Bennet :  The patriarch of the Bennet family, a gentleman of modest income with five unmarried daughters. He has a sarcastic, cynical sense of humor that he uses to purposefully irritate his wife. Though he loves his daughters, he often fails as a parent, preferring to withdraw from the never: ending marriage concerns of the women around him rather than offer help.
6.      Mrs. Bennet :  Mr. Bennet’s wife, a foolish, noisy woman whose only goal in life is to see her daughters married. Because of her low breeding and often unbecoming behavior, Mrs. Bennet often repels the very suitors whom she tries to attract for her daughters.
7.      George Wickham :  A handsome, fortune:hunting militia officer. Wickham’s good looks and charm attract Elizabeth initially.
8.      Lydia Bennet :  The youngest Bennet sister, she is gossipy, immature, and self:involved. Unlike Elizabeth, Lydia flings herself head long into romance and ends up running off with Wickham.
9.      Mr. Collins :  A pompous, generally idiotic clergyman who stands to inherit Mr. Bennet’s property. He is the worst combination of snobbish and obsequious.
10.  Miss Bingley :  Bingley’s snobbish sister. Miss Bingley bears inordinate disdain for Elizabeth’s middle:class background. Her vain attempts to garner Darcy’s attention cause Darcy to admire Elizabeth’s self:possessed character even more.
11.  Lady Catherine de Bourgh :  A rich, bossy noblewoman; Mr. Collins’s patron and Darcy’s aunt.
12.  Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner :  Mrs. Bennet’s brother and his wife. The Gardiners, caring, nurturing, and full of common sense, often prove to be better parents to the Bennet daughters than Mr. Bennet and his wife.
13.  Charlotte Lucas :  Elizabeth’s dear friend. Charlotte does not view love as the most vital component of a marriage. She is more interested in having a comfortable home. Thus, when Mr. Collins proposes, she accepts.
14.  Georgiana Darcy :  Darcy’s sister. She is immensely pretty and just as shy. She has great skill at playing the pianoforte.
15.  Mary Bennet :  The middle Bennet sister, bookish and pedantic.
16.  Catherine Bennet :  The fourth Bennet sister. Like Lydia, she is girlishly enthralled with the soldiers.

*      Plot:
The plot of this story namely:
·         The plot’s focus on marriage is seen from the very beginning of the story. The arrival of Mr. Bingley, a single man of large fortune’ at near-by Netherfield immediately fires the imagination of Mrs. Bennet.
·         Mr. Collins is introduced into the plot to reveal the negative side of marriage. He is a sycophant, a pompous clergyman, and an odd combination of ‘servility and self importance’. He is a deliberately constructed, grotesque figure, who is desperate to marry for any reason.
·         Lady Catherine de Bourgh is introduced into the plot as a very wealthy member of the upper class society and as Collins’ patroness. She also happens to be Darcy’s aunt, and it is speculated that her nephew will marry her unacceptable daughter.
·         The plot is further advance by another meeting of Darcy and Elizabeth, which leads him to know that he is in love with this vivacious young lady.
·         Elizabeth’s visit to Derbyshire with the Gardiners brings her into contact with Darcy once again. Elizabeth’s prejudice really begins to thaw under the warmth he emits during the visit; but just as the two are about to be reconciled, tragedy strikes. Lydia has eloped with Wickham, and Elizabeth is summoned to Longbourn. Ironically, Lydia’s crass behavior threatens to fatally injure the chances of her two admirable sisters to attract Bingley and Darcy.
·         In the end, Lydia’s elopement provides an opportunity for Darcy to prove his worth to Elizabeth. He convinces Wickham to marry Lydia, by offering him a large sum of money.
·         The fully developed and tightly constructed plot clearly centers on marriage in its various forms. It is the central theme that binds the plot together. Therefore, the natural end of the novel comes with Jane’s marriage to Bingley and Elizabeth’s marriage to Darcy. Love has conquered all - both pride and prejudice.

*      Conflict:
Because Mr. Bennet has no sons, and the British tradition was only bequeath property to the successor of the man, so if Mr. Bennet dies someday, which would inherit the entire estate is Mr. William Collins, a nephew of his father that they do not know. Worried about the fate of her daughters after the death of her later, Mr. Bennet and his wife tried to have his children get married with the person who can  bring their life precisely.The existence of  Bingley host to the village, giving hope to the family, Mrs. Bennet hope Mr. Bingley will be interested in one of  their children, especially Jane because she is the one of  the daughter of the oldest and the most beautiful among fifth of their children.when the party comes, all the people who are present  there seem happy. It turned out that Mr. Bingley did not come alone, but together with her sister Lady Caroline and her friend, Mr. Darcy. At rest, Mrs. Bennet urges her husband to introduce their daughter to Mr. Bingley.

*      Climax
Climax of that story is when Elizabeth got the information that made her sister (Jane) broke with Mr.Bingley was Darcy itself. She was very angry hearing that. Her angry has closed her feeling to him. When Darcy expressed her feeling to her, she refused his love. She wanted to him responsible for making Jane broke with Mr.Bingley and still asking about his act to Wickham. On the following night, when Elizabeth was daydreaming in her room, Darcy came and put the letter on the table in her room. She turned her body back while seeing him went away with his horse. Then she read the letter that contain the explanation about his act on making Jane with Bingley broke and about Mr. Wickham. From there, Elizabeth visited  to her aunt’s house in town and from there they visited Pemberley, Mr.Darcy’s house which opened for all. Because Mr.Darcy was seldom stayed there, Elizabeth accepted to come there. Actually, Mr.Darcy was there. They met there. Elizabeth hurried to go to her Inn. In the night, Mr.Darcuy came to Elizabeth’s house to invite them for dinner tomorrow in his house. Suddenly, Elizabeth goty the letter from Jane that informed Lydia was gone away with Mr.Wickham.Mr. Darcy  was willing to search themn while Elizabeth went home in worried feeling. After that the letter from her aunt came and informed that Lydia was found and she has gotten married. Lydia was back to house with her husband, Mr.Wickham. when they were eating, Lydia said undeliberately that Darcy who helped her to marry with Wickhasm. Elizabeth was shock.One day Mr.Binglkey was accompanied by Darcy came to Elizabeth’s house to propose marriage. they received gladly. But, in the middle of the night, there were lady Catherine. She wanted to talk with  Elizabeth and asked her to leave Mr.Darcy. because he was proposed to marry with her daughter. While Elizabeth was confused because she never thought that she had a relation with him with.

*      Resolution:
However as it continues to be insulted by Lady Catherine, Elizabeth was angry and vowed not to  be associated with Darcy. Elizabeth did not sleep all night, she kept dreaming all night. At dawn, Elizabeth went out for a walk with her thoughts. He saw Mr. Darcy from far away, walked over. Mr. Darcy explained all, and promised not to interfere with Elizabeth again if she didn’t love him. Because Elizabeth already knew who the real Mr. Darcy was, finally, she accepted his love gladly. They returned home to face Mr. Bennet, Elizabeth's father. The story is romantic and touching heart. Elizabeth Bennett was intelligent finding his love, Mr. Fitzwilliam.

*      Theme:
The theme of this story is about Love.
The moral message of this story is that love will never be wrong. It needs the struggle before we find the true love in our life. Although it’s really hard to be happy for Elizabeth with her love because of many troubles in their life, but the truth will always come before it’s really late. Therefore, we should to imitate the story of Elizabeth to be the strong people to find our true love. Be patient and prays, hopefully we will find our true love as Mr. Darcy love Elizabeth forever.

*      Point of view:
The writer as Third Person, because the narration typically stays with Elizabeth, although it occasionally offers us information that Elizabeth isn't aware of (like Charlotte's pursuit of Mr. Collins). The third person point of view is a form of storytelling in which a narrator relates all action in third person, using third person pronouns such as "he" or "she." Third person point of view may be omniscient or limited. Often new writers feel most comfortable with first person. This third person view lends a cold dimension to the novel, in the sense that dialogue, opinions, ideas, and events dominate the story rather than emotions. Elizabeth is the exception to this rule – Chapter 36, for example, is devoted entirely to her emotional transformation following her receipt of Darcy's letter. In contrast, even though we do often get to hear the thoughts of others, it's usually in shorter, less complex bursts.

2.      Make a summarize of that story :

It was started with the arrival of Mr. William Bingley, a handsome young man from a wealthy family to the residence area of Elizabeth.
 Elizabeth along with her four sisters were invited to a party that held to welcome him. Because Mr. Bennett did not have boys, and the British tradition was only bequeathed the wealth to the successor man, so if Mr. Bennet died someday, who would inherit the entire of the wealth is Mr. William Collins, a nephew of his father that they did not know. Because he worried about the fate of his daughters after the death of his later, Mr. Bennet and his wife tried to ask their children got married with the person who was deemed wealthy.

At rest, Mrs. Bennet urged her husband to introduce their daughters to Mr. Bingley. As expected, Mr. Bingley asked Jane to dance with him. Elizabeth asked “Is Mr. Darcy wanted to dance with her?”, but she was refused. Elizabeth left Mr. Darcy and joined with Charlotte. Elizabeth said that Mr. Darcy is a handsome young man who rich and arrogant.

Because of fearing for her sister, Elizabeth desperated to catch up her. There, she met Lady Caroline and Mr. Darcy. When they would go home the next day, when Elizabeth was about to get on the horse train, without conscious Mr. Darcy took Elizabeth’s hand to help her get on the train. The incident gave the depth impression for them. It was bad for Jane, a few days later suddenly Mr. Bingley broke up her. Although sad, Jane tried to remain steadfast.
Then, Elizabeth visited the Charlotte house who got married with Collins Reverend. There Elizabeth was introduced to Lady Catherine who is Mr. Darcy's aunt. Mr. Darcy unexpectedly was there. When in church, Elizabeth got a shock news from the Mr. Darcy’s guards, Elizabeth was told that the breakup had a big role Mr. Bingley and Jane is Darcy. Elizabeth was furious. Her fury closed her love to Mr. Darcy. When Mr. Darcy said his love to Elizabeth, Elizabeth refused flatly . She was angry and asked for an explanation for Mr. Darcy's attitude toward her sister Jane, and also questioned his attitude hostile to Mr. Wickham. The night day, when Elizabeth was daydreaming in her room, Mr. Darcy came and put the letter on her table room. Elizabeth turned, but she only saw Mr. Darcy went with his horse. Elizabeth took the letter and read it. The letter contained an explanation of his attitude about Jane, Bingley and Mr. Wickham. When he came back from Charlotte’s home, Elizabeth visited to her aunt's house in the city. From there they went to visit to Pemberley, Mr. Darcy's house that was opened to the public. Mr. Darcy was rare at home, Elizabeth it's Elizabeth accepted an invitation to visit there. Mr. Darcy was there, they met with clunky. Elizabeth was hurried back to the lodge. In the evening Mr. Darcy came to the place of Elizabeth stayed and invited them to dinner at his home tomorrow. When came back to the lodge, Elizabeth got a letter from jane who gave her news that Lidya ran away with Mr. Wickham. Mr. Darcy offered to look for her. Elizabeth came home with a chaos feeling. A letter from her uncle came, preached that Lidya had been found and married. When Lidya came home with her husband, Mr. Wickham, when was eating, Lidya deliverance talked that Mr. Darcylah who helped to marry them. Elizabeth was shock.
One days Mr. Bingley was accompanied by Mr. Darcy came to the Elizabeth’s house to engage Jane. It had been warmly welcomed their family. But when the middle of the night, they had guests, Lady Catherine. She wanted to talk with Elizabeth and asked her to leave Mr. Darcy, because he was an arranged marriage with her daughter. Elizabeth confused, she felt did not have relationship with Darcy. But because she was insulted by Lady Catherine, made Elizabeth angry and promised to not have relation with Darcy. Elizabeth did not sleep all night, she kept dreaming all night. When Subuh came, Elizabeth went out for a walk to calm her thoughts. She saw Mr. Darcy from far and walked over her. Mr. Darcy explained all, and promised not to interfere Elizabeth again if she did not love him.
Because Elizabeth already knew who was the real Mr. Darcy and love her, Elizabeth accepted him gladly. They went to Elizabeth’s home to face Mr. Bennet Elizabeth, Elizabeth's father. The romantic story and heartwarming. Elizabeth Bennett intelligent who found her endless love, Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.

III. Make a summary of Hamlet by W.G. Wyatt!
The King of Denmark is killed by an apparent snakebite while sleeping in the garden. His brother Claudius assumes the throne and marries the widowed Queen, Gertrude, within weeks of the King's death. Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark and the dead King's son, mourns for his father and anguishes over his mother's hasty remarriage, considering it as unnatural as incest.
The play opens outside the castle grounds, where three guards have been witnessing the appearance of a Ghost who looks like the dead King. They ask the Prince and his friend Horatio to come see the Ghost. Prince Hamlet speaks to the apparition, who claims to be the spirit of his dead father. In a private conversation, the Ghost tells Hamlet that Claudius, in fact, murdered him. The Ghost asks Hamlet to avenge his murder. Hamlet takes his responsibility to seek vengeance for his father very seriously, perhaps too seriously.
Hamlet is in love with Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius (the Lord Chamberlain); however, the father commands Ophelia to reject Hamlet's advances. Polonius and his son Laertes believe Hamlet will never marry Ophelia since her rank is beneath his. Although Ophelia is very much in love with Hamlet, she is an obedient child; as a result, she complies with her father's commands. Satisfied that his sister is now safe, Laertes goes off to France in pursuit of a good time. Ophelia and her father are left to look after one another. When Hamlet feigns madness in order to observe the new King and his mother, Polonius tells the King that Hamlet's madness is because of unrequited love for Ophelia. He orders Ophelia to return Hamlet's advances to test this theory. Hamlet spurns Ophelia, however, breaking her heart.
The King begins to suspect that Hamlet knows about the murder, but Hamlet is hesitant and full of anxiety over how to proceed. When at last he moves to punish Claudius, he accidentally kills Polonius. Ophelia, on hearing the news of her father's death, loses her mind and drowns in the river. Claudius, now more fearful than ever that Hamlet will eventually expose him, makes arrangements for Hamlet to die. Hamlet, however, escapes Claudius' plans and returns to Elsinore to exact revenge.
Laertes, now seeking revenge against Hamlet on behalf of his father and sister, challenges Hamlet to a duel. Secretly, he has conspired with Claudius to make sure Hamlet dies in the battle. The sword he uses is poisoned, as is Hamlet's drink. During the duel, the Queen accidentally drinks the poisoned cup and dies. Hamlet and Laertes are both seriously wounded. Before dying, Laertes confesses all to Hamlet, telling him the details of Claudius' plot against him, including the fact that he will die shortly from the poison. Hamlet kills Claudius, then implores his friend Horatio to tell the world the truth about the tragedy. Horatio lives to clear Hamlet's name, and the Prince of Norway comes to restore order to Denmark.
